HOD SELECT: What If You Think Online Dating Sucks

with

Hailey Kenyon

Kait and Hailey talk about the hard truth about online dating, share their personal stories with online dating, and final takeaways as you navigate online dating.

Hard Truth

  • If you think online dating sucks the reality is you shouldn’t be online dating because it’s all about mindset.
  • Either change your mindset or get off online dating altogether.
  • Online dating isn’t going to be easy, it’s difficult and challenging but not impossible.

Kait's Story

  • For Kait, it’s all about how you approach it.
  • Originally  online dating was a means to fill a void she had in her heart. She wanted to feel validated and loved and didn’t feel that outside of dating and men so online dating was convenient because there were so many guys.
  • She had wrong intentions initially which led to bad results.
  • Put so much value in online dating and so much of her own value on it.
  • Would make the mistake of trying to emotionally connect early on after matching without ever going on an actual date.
  • Ladies, if you’re matching with guys and emotionally connecting early on you can stop this by getting off the app and not telling your whole life story. You have more power than you think.
  • Guys, get off of the app ASAP. In 24-48 hours get off the app and move it to a phone call.
  • If you’re long distance then get in person as soon as possible. It’s a hard and fast rule because it changes so much.

Hailey's Story

  • Hailey’s mistake came from not getting off the app.
  • Matched with a guy during covid and they ended up texting all day, phone calls all night, but never a facetime call.
  • Finally met and went on a date and it was so AWKWARD. It clicked that she didn’t really know this person. The date didn’t lead to a second date.
  • The emotional attraction was there but all the other buckets of attraction didn’t get the memo.

Final Takeaways

  • Kait: 80% of people that you meet online aren’t going to turn into a quality date. You have to set your expectations to understand that. Hold it very loosely. Don’t personalize it and manage your expectations. This is a great way to get your numbers up and meet more people.
  • Hailey: Go on the date as soon as possible. There’s so much room for creating false narratives so you have to meet up safely in a public place. It’s all about boundaries and pace. At the very least get on a facetime call.
