Hey HOD fam! We’re back and super excited to bring you another awesome episode of Heart of Dating. Today, we’re diving into a topic that’s sure to get you thinking: dating the "boring" guy. Yep, we’re chatting about why we often go for the mysterious, brooding types instead and why we might want to give the steady, reliable guy a chance. We’ve got the amazing Jess with us today to break it all down. So grab your favorite drink, get comfy, and let’s get into it!
Kait and JJ kick things off by talking about why so many of us are drawn to the mysterious guy rather than the consistent, dependable one. Jess shares her thoughts, saying that distractions and noise can help us avoid facing our true feelings. Choosing the consistent guy makes us reflect on ourselves, while the mysterious guy often feels like a "rescuer."
Kait shares how easy it is to project amazing qualities onto someone you barely know, making them seem more appealing. Jess and JJ add their own stories, reminding us to stay grounded and not to idealize someone based on limited information.
Kait opens up about dating a guy with player vibes, only for it to end just as she had feared. JJ talks about her shift from liking chaotic relationships to marrying someone who seemed mysterious but was actually stable. Jess shares her journey from emotional insecurity to appreciating her husband John's stability and kindness.
Throughout the episode, understanding your self-worth is a big focus. Jess speaks honestly about her past struggles with self-esteem and societal beauty standards. She emphasizes that recognizing your own value is crucial for attracting the right partner.
The gang rounds out the episode with some solid advice. They highlight the need for pure love of God and caring for the other person’s well-being before starting a relationship. Jess stresses removing personal ideologies, praying with others, and knowing the Lord in the dating process. They agree that dating isn’t just about eventually getting married, but about finding someone who aligns with biblical values.
