Will I be single forever?

with

Kait Tomlin

Will I be single forever?

It’s a question that I was all too familiar with. After every flop first date, rejection, or heartbreak… I would ask God this question with sadness and sometimes a little bit of anger. I just didn’t understand.

If you’ve ever asked this question, I feel you. I know what it’s like to constantly wonder, “Will I be single forever?”

And the answer is never easy but it’s filled with a lot of hope.

So what’s the answer?

God may not promise us marriage (and I know that’s a really hard pill to swallow sometimes), but you know what He does promise us…

JOY. HAPPINESS. FULFILLMENT. PURPOSE. LOVE.

And this may lead you to think… well, I can’t have any of those things without a partner. Can I bring you hope that you most certainly can…

God will fulfill you. You will live a life filled with purpose, love and community despite your singleness. He will bring you immeasurable joy with or without a life partner.

God will give you His Plan A life for you… that’s a promise. You just have to trust He knows best what that Plan A is.

Everyone’s journey is going to be different. Let God speak into YOUR story without distractions or any sort of comparison.

In the gospels, there’s this moment where Peter talks about leaving everything to follow him.

On our most recent podcast episode, Dr. Gregory Coles explains that what he loves so much about this part in scripture is that Jesus doesn’t deny that there is something given up to follow Him.

God recognizes that there’s a price to following Him. He acknowledges and admires that sometimes we have to give up things and desires that WE want that don’t ultimately align with His best plan for our lives. But the good news is that He sees us so much in those sacrifices that He gives us more than we could ever ask or imagine…

Jesus doesn't just promise eternal life, He also promises things in this lifetime. He’s promising we will be family to one another. Friendships are eternal, marriage isn’t.

So many are taught that marriage is the purpose of life when it’s really not. Ask yourself, “what am I here for?” Don’t let your relationship status, or worry, or fear keep you from walking in the FULL story God has for you TODAY…
